Yasmeen’s Element
Join us for a special sneak-peek preview of Yasmeen’s Element, a new film by critically acclaimed Pakistani-American director Amman Abbasi.
Shot in the remote Hunza region of northern Pakistan, the film follows a young Pakistani schoolgirl named Yasmeen after she loses her homework – an element from the periodic table. She embarks on a day-long quest to find her professor’s house. As she weaves through the neighbouring towns and villages, she is helped and sometimes hindered by those she encounters – a parable for what women’s education can be in an unstable place.
