Inspired by a story of courage, a filmmaker and her legendary marathon mentor train and travel in secret to join the brave Afghan women who are standing up for equality and freedom, by running in the Marathon of Afghanistan.
This screening of The Secret Marathon will be followed by a panel discussion with members of the 30 Birds Community, including Banin Arjmand, Zainab Hedayati, Maryam Hosseini, and Masooma Nasiri.

The 30 Birds Foundation is a beacon of hope for Afghan girls and their families seeking refuge from the Taliban. After evacuating a school’s founder and his family, a team of determined citizens turned their attention to the students – primarily Afghan girls – who were under threat from the Taliban.
