Community Conversation with Cheryl Foggo and Leander Lane

We are pleased to welcome author and filmmaker Cheryl Foggo and Leander Lane, descendant of the Shiloh People, for a conversation. This event is offered in conjunction with taisha paggett’s exhibition soliloquy for a horizon currently on view at Remai Modern.

Leander Lane is the great grandson of Julius Caesar Lane, a founding member of the African American farming community, known as the Shiloh People, which forged the first Black farming community in the province in 1910. He is joined in conversation with Cheryl Foggo, an award-winning playwright, author and filmmaker, whose work over the last 30 years has focused on the lives of Western Canadians of African descent. Learn more about Lane’s personal journey, writing a family history titled “The Road to Shiloh.”
