Join us for Discovery Cinema, a Saturday afternoon matinee series for families. This May, we’re screening a series of films in honour of Asian Heritage Month. These films look at themes of family bonds, patriarchal expectations, friendship, and destiny from a wide range of Asian filmmakers.

The Yamadas are a typical middle class Japanese family in urban Tokyo and this film shows us a variety of episodes of their lives. With tales that range from the humorous to the heartbreaking, we see this family cope with life’s little conflicts, problems, and joys in their own way.

Tickets are $10, members and youth under 18 get in free. All guests must check-in at the front desk to receive an admission token.
