Maria Lind: Curator Talk

During the last decade of the 20th-century abstraction became more visible within contemporary art. The first two decades of the 21st century have meant further developments, based on the geometric abstraction of the classical avant-garde as well as Indigenous and traditional uses of the abstract. Using the multi-year project Abstract Possible (2010-on going) as a backdrop, Maria Lind will discuss current uses of abstraction: formal abstraction, economic abstraction and social abstraction, emphasizing “abstract” as simultaneously a noun, an adjective and a verb.
