Prairie Place-Ancestors Collective Screening and Conversation
The Prairie Place-Ancestors Collective, convened by Mpoe Mogale and including Cheryl Foggo, Lebogang Disele, Lisa LaTouche and Masani St. Rose, are a group of artists exploring Blackness in the Prairies, their relationship to this land, and who has come before them.
Three members of the collective will be present to share their recent performance film, Keystone Is, about the history of Keystone/Breton, AB and its continuing connection to Alberta’s Black migrant families. The artists will participate in a public discussion about their work and introduce their latest project exploring Saskatchewan’s early 20th century Black farming community centred around the Shiloh Baptist Church, and homesteads in the Maidstone/Eldon District area.
